2019-06-20 | LALIZAS supports the fundraising for cancer research, through Maarten van der Weijden foundation
LALIZAS Group proudly announces that will support the Olympic champion Maarten van der Weijden on this 2nd attempt at swimming the 11 City tour. From June 21 until June 24, the iconic 11 City tour (11stedentocht) will occur to benefit the ongoing efforts to accelerate the pace of cancer research and to raise money for this cause. Last year Maarten van der Weijden collected a bit over 5 Million Euros.
The 11stedentocht is a traditional event in the Netherlands during the winter over the frozen rivers in the province of Friesland. It is quite a challenge to swim no less than 22 kilometers in 72 hours, yet alone to take a 200 Km swim. LALIZAS therefore will be sponsoring this event and Maarten’s effort by providing him with 2 LEISURE-Rafts for his own safety and rest during the night, in order to achieve this meaningful and altruistic goal, without getting out of the water.
At LALIZAS, saving lives is right at the heart of everything we do and we are more than honored to support in our own way such charity events that contribute to saving human lives. From designing our very own life-saving equipment to prevent casualties in the sea, to supporting and building awareness of other causes, both play a crucial role in our life-saving work. We firmly believe that social responsibility is essential in modern societies and within an organization’s practices, especially in the way they deal with health care and research.
As a purpose-driven company dedicated to serving people and their safety needs, we fully support the Maarten van der Weijden Foundation, which helps former, current and future cancer patients and their path to better health, as it tries to raise vital funds for groundbreaking cancer research to increase the chance of recovery or extension as well as the quality of life of the patient. The immense funds that have been collected from the 1st attempt have gone directly to cancer research, without deduction of costs, while the organizational costs have been covered by sponsors.
