SOLAS APPROVALS
All ships engaged on international voyages and their equipment must meet the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974, as amended.
Especially for the life saving equipment, the LSA Code (Lifesaving equipment code ) and the IMO MSC.81(70), are the latest norms of SOLAS, according to which all such products should be tested and approved.
Additionally the European Community ships (ships travelling form one EC member to another EC member) must fullfill the 96/98/EC directive and its amendments' directives. This practically means that they must be CE approved by a Notified Body (Classification Society) and bear the 'stearing wheel' mark.
LALIZAS has a complete range of products for all needs, that is:
- Products in conformity with the LSA Code & MSC.81(70), CE approved (by Notified Body) and bearing the 'steering wheel' mark.
- Products in conformity with the LSA Code & MSC.81(70), approved by National Marine Authorities for use on ships engaged on national voyages.
- Older products, in conformity with previous editions of the SOLAS regulations, which cover the needs of small ships on national voyages, as required by the national laws.
Bureau Veritas (notified body no 0062) is the Notified Body that has approved all Lalizas SOLAS products to the Marine Equipment Directive and its amendments.
